Michele Uva, UEFA vice president, said Tuesday that European competitions, including the June European Championship, will be interrupted only if the emergency for the coronavirus "worsens" and that the body that manages European football is in a "waiting phase" ", and in constant contact with the governments of the various countries.

"We are in a waiting phase, we are waiting for all countries. Football must follow the indications it receives from the various countries. We try not to stop the competition," said Uva in an interview with the Italian national radio station Rai Radio 1 Sport.

The 2020 Eurocup will be organized in 12 different countries and will hold the opening match precisely in Italy, at the Olympic Stadium in Rome. In total, there will be three matches of the group stage in Rome, plus a quarter-final.

Europe and Italy in particular live moments of emergency because of the coronavirus, which caused seven deaths and more than 280 infected in recent days in several regions of the north of the country.

Italian Government approved the Italian Football Federation to play matches in the affected areas behind closed doors. After four league games were postponed last week, several meetings of next week, including the classic Juventus-Inter will be played without audiences for security reasons.

Inter will be the first team to play without an audience in the Europa League, receiving the Ludogorets this Thursday in San Siro in the round of the round of 16.

Uva also referred to the penalty recently inflicted by the UEFA Financial Control Committee to Manchester City, with a fine of thirty million euros and the exclusion of European international competitions during the next two seasons.

" Almost never European rules are similar to national ones and UEFA is working so that some European rules also become mandatory in the leagues," he said, when analyzing the possibility of their cancellation the league trophies won by the English team in the period (2012-2016) for which they were punished.
